Scope of Work

Winya Indigenous Commercial Furniture was engaged to supply premium soft seating for PwC’s Darwin office as part of a broader workspace transformation led by Hames Sharley and delivered by SHAPE. Designed to reflect both functionality and a strong sense of place, the new office required furnishings that would suit modern workstyles while supporting visual storytelling and cultural relevance.

Cultural Integration

The seating was upholstered in fabrics from Winya’s House Artist Program, which features designs by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. These textiles were integrated with restraint and respect, adding depth and identity to the space without overpowering the clean, professional aesthetic.

This approach ensured that cultural representation remained present and meaningful while maintaining harmony with the overall interior scheme. It also aligned with PwC’s broader reconciliation goals, subtly reinforcing their commitment to supporting Indigenous suppliers and artists through everyday business decisions.

Outcome

The result is a contemporary office space that balances corporate professionalism with a warm, grounded atmosphere. The soft seating enhances comfort and functionality in breakout and collaboration zones while reflecting the character of the region and the communities PwC serves.

The project is a strong example of how commercial fitouts can incorporate Indigenous design in practical, thoughtful, and enduring ways — with furniture that speaks both to quality and culture.
